Vectura Fastigheter's New Venture in Central Uppsala
Since spring 2022, Vectura Fastigheter has been an active part in developing Uppsala's new innovative block in the Främre Boländerna area. New vision images for the area's first block are now being presented and are planned to be completed by the end of 2026. Here, an industrial area is transformed into a knowledge-intensive district with vitality and creativity in the heart of central Uppsala.
In the Främre Boländerna, Vectura is developing Upside Stories – a new cluster consisting of two new blocks totaling 30,000 sqm that connects actors at the intersection of science, technology, and sustainability. Here, industry, academia, and research come together to develop and grow collectively. A total of 5,500 new jobs will be created in the Främre Boländerna by the year 2030. The district will also open several new parks and restaurants that will attract both residents of Uppsala and visitors.
"It is pleasing that we can today show new vision images of how our first block will be designed. Here, we create an innovative meeting place for the entire business, research, and academic community of Uppsala, which also becomes a part of our national community with Forskaren in Stockholm, GoCo in Mölndal, and The Loop in Lund. With our investment in Uppsala, we connect our clusters," says Katarina Fu, Business Developer at Vectura Fastigheter.
Vectura works long-term with its tenants to create environments that promote collaboration, innovation, and competitiveness. In the Främre Boländerna, there are future lab environments, offices, co-working spaces, and meeting places that attract companies in life science, tech, and sustainability. Together, they form an ecosystem where talents meet and ideas fertilize each other.
"Listening to our tenants and creating the right conditions for their business is in our DNA. We enable progress both through the built environment and the content of our places," says Katarina Fu, Business Developer at Vectura Fastigheter.
The Upside Stories initiative in the Främre Boländerna has high ambitions to reduce environmental and climate impact in line with Vectura's sustainability policy. Vectura aims to achieve climate neutrality in the entire management process by 2025 and in the building process by 2030. The block will be LEED Platinum certified.
